Un communiqué de presse de l'AMPAS mentionnait que les vainqueurs de 1951 et 1952 (Benjy et Neighbours) faisaient partie d'un groupe de film qui non seulement avaient concurrus, mais également avaient été déclarés vainqueurs dans une catégorie pour laquelle ils n'ataient clairement pas élligibles.
