Pensez à vous présenter également sur votre page d'utilisateur, ce qui nous permettra de connaître vos centres d'intérêt et de mieux vous guider vers les divers projets thématiques.
Bien qu'il s'agisse d'un travail de rédaction complexe résultant de l'action de plusieurs dizaines de milliers de contributeurs francophones du monde entier, sa philosophie peut être résumée en quelques mots : « N'hésitez pas à l'améliorer ! »

Au cours d'une discussion, n'oubliez pas de signer vos messages, à l'aide de quatre tildes (~~~~) ou du bouton présent en haut de la fenêtre de modification ; il est en revanche inutile de signer lorsque vous modifiez des articles car l'historique permet de retrouver toutes vos contributions.

Hello,

It doesn't really make sense to absolutely want to translate everything in French. I think that it's important for this article to keep the English name because nobody will never use (in a French conversation) "Tournoi PGA de golf" while talking about the "PGA Championship". (In my opinion, even "PGA Championship de golf" doesn't make sense because there is no risk of confusion). The only other name that French journalists use sometimes is "USPGA".

I propose to reach an agreement between us, instead of fighting as children on renaming those pages. I have to make clear that the current title doesn't sound good for me (but I may be wrong) for me and for some friends who are pretty fond of sport too.

  • Delete wrong spellings: [Mark Philipoussis], [Gabriela Sabattini] (Any links to these in fr.wiki?)
  • Unify two different articles (written by different people) into one: [Elena Likhovtseva] is a right spelling. Hoewver, "[Elena Likhovsheva]" duplicates. Is the redirect page (after unification) necessary?

  • Hi. I know the problem, but the french languague is like that. I think that you (.jp, .en, etc) will make that difference in the near future. You (.en) already make that difference with the soccer players. I see. However, our language (Japanese) have no sense of it. (Simply, Category:テニス選手 = Category:Tennis players) German and Italian can have "male and female" names: (German: Kategorie:Tennisspielerin / Italian: Categorie:Tenniste). I wrote an article about Akiko Kijimuta with a description of her performance at Roland Garros in 1992, especially her great match against Monica Seles : I think she was leading 4-0 when Seles came back but I'm not too sure - can you confirm it to mee, please ?

Hello! 15 months passed since we disagreed about USPGA. Why did you think, to correct your old signatures ? Why did you ask a French bureaucrat to change your account, soon after that? Just recently, I knew you got an administrator since January 23, 2006. Today, I came to add a Japanese article of Padraig Harrington, an Irish golfer. He won 2-hole playoff against Tiger Woods in Japanese golf tournament! Then I noticed "a new message": I wondered, members of Projet:Tennis complained me (about my editions). Hello! Thanks for a great article of Lilí Álvarez, especially references (her obituary in Spanish newspaper). I added this link to my Japanese version. -- In fact, I was very surprised to see new categories, Catégorie:Joueuse américaine de tennis (amateur) and Catégorie:Joueuse américaine de tennis (ère Open). Too complicated for foreign users, to search French Wikipedia articles from categories! We need special knowledge of tennis history, extremely high level. I have experienced 2 years in Wikipedia project, tennis categories worldwide -- but other users, even in France?? I think, Catégorie:Joueuse américaine de tennis (basic category) is enough for us. You're right, it's a bit complicated but these categories are absolutely necessary because of the huge numbers of American women tennis players : more than 250, a special organisation is required.

I suggest, two more players are necessary: Marie Wagner (a Hall of Fame member [2]) and Grace Roosevelt. Her biography is included in Ellen's HOF profile!! Read it more carefully! Yes, you may be right with the new categorizations (pro/amateur & countries). But it's hard to make precise and simple at the same time.
About the red links, it's because Esprit Fugace & Ludo29 decided a few days ago (with acceptable but crual mobiles) to destroy a lot of short articles about minor women tennis players. Just have a look here for further informations.

Thanks for your response. Some players, very important but quite hard to find biographical resources -- for example, Lolette Payot from Switzerland, Susan Noel of France are important players for me. I have Noel's book "Tennis in Our Time" (published in 1955). She was a close friend of Jadwiga Jedrzejowska of Poland. Lolette Payot was the first Swiss tennis player in history. Maybe, you can seek your own way to describe biographical importance better than now. I remember the time, last november, when you congratulated me like hell because I created a few articles about totally forgotten Japanese players - remember Naoko Satō... it was just a couple of days before you decided to suppress Kylie Copeland (an other forgotten - but American - player). I understand you had your own reasons.
For your information, Modèle:Redirection commentée (tennis) initially said : « ne nécessitant a priori pas de développement supplémentaire ». So, it was still possible, for a well-informated historian of tennis, to bring improvements. Now, we just have a cemetery of red links. What a progress : Zombies are dead !!!

Cemetery of red links? (What a negative word!) No, they're histories that should be unveiled some time. Especially Payot -- She was a Swiss player = country of Roger Federer!! // I remember Anita Lizana's case, 1937 US Champion from Chile. She was forgotten for a long time, even by Bud Collins in his Tennis Encyclopedia.
