Arthur (Art) Blakey (* 11 octobre 1919, † 16 octobre 1990), connu aussi sous le nom de Abdullah Ibn Buhaina est un batteur et chef d'orchestre de jazz américain.

Il est avec Kenny Clarke et Max Roach un des inventeurs d'un style de batterie moderne et bebop.

Dans les années 1940, Art Blakey joue dans les orchestres de Mary Lou Williams, Fletcher Henderson, et Billy Eckstine. Il se convertit à l'Islam durant un long séjour en Afrique de l'Ouest, à la fin des années 1940 et prend le nom de Abdullah Ibn Buhaina.

Chantre du hard bop et du soul jazz, il est, en 1955, avec Horace Silver le créateur du groupe de hard bop des « Jazz Messengers », duquel il est resté le leader, le mentor et le découvreur de jeunes talents pendant plus de trente ans, si bien que le nom et la carrière de Blakey y sont fortement associés. Grâce à lui et pour la première fois dans l'histoire du jazz, la batterie, à l'origine instrument accompagnateur, devient un instrument soliste et directeur. Tout au long de sa carrière, Art Blakey jouit d'une immense popularité en France.
