Deutsch: Rettungsschwimmer bewegen sich am Strand schneller fort als im Wasser. Das hat zur Folge, dass die „Front“ von vier Rettungsschwimmern ihre Richtung ändert, wenn sie vom Strand ins Wasser kommen. Dies entspricht der Brechung einer Welle am optisch dichteren Medium.

Athletes have to run on the beach then swim, always with a way perpendicular to the shore. They all run at the same speed, swim at the same speed, but they swim slowlier than they run. They start on a line, but this line is not perpendicular to the shore. We can see that the direction of the line formed by the athletes changes after the shore: while the first swimmers go slowly, the athletes on the beach keep on running fast. The light has the same behaviour when the medium changes. The boundary is similar to the strand, and the wave crest is similar to the line of athletesFrançais : Métaphore des athlètes.
Des athlètes doivent courir sur la plage puis nager, toujours perpendiculairement au rivage. Ils courent à la même vitesse, ils nagent à la même vitesse, mais ils nagent moins vite qu'ils ne courent. Ils partent en ligne, mais la ligne n'est pas parallèle au rivage. On voit que la ligne formée par les athlètes change de direction après l'entrée dans l'eau : pendant que les premiers nageurs avancent lentement, les athlètes encore sur la plage continuent à courir vite. La lumière se comporte de la même manière lorsqu'elle change de milieu. Le dioptre est semblable au rivage, et le front d'onde est semblable à la ligne formée par les athlètes. |
