Le Tarentola boettgeri est un gecko a l’aspect assez trapu. La peau a un aspect rugueux, avec des petites excroissances. La couleur de base est le marron-ocre, avec des petites taches plus sombres et plus claires. Les petites excroissances sont généralement terminées par un point blanc.
Le nom de cette espèce est dédié au zoologiste Boettger.
