English: TSS deployment during STS-46.
During STS-46 operations, the Tethered Satellite System 1 (TSS-1) satellite is extended beyond the deployer system's boom by about 800 ft on the end of a dielectric Kelvar cord (tether). The moon can be seen at the upper left center. Later the TSS-1 satellite will be reeled back into Atlantis',Orbiter Vehicle (OV) 104's, payload bay (PLB).
