Srilankamys ohiensis est la seule espèce du genre Srilankamys. C'est un rongeur de la sous-famille des Murinés.
On peut considérer Srilankamys ohiensis comme un rat moyen avec une toison douce sur le dos, fine, dense, courte et gris foncé. Ses oreilles sont petites, gris foncé et guère velues. Les dessus des pieds sont blancs. Ses griffes sont petites et courtes. Sa queue est très longue.
