[edit] Description

Skyhill (or Scacafell) at the foot of Glen Auldyn Possibly the scene of a famous battle in 1079 where Godred Crovan a Norseman from the Hebrides defeated the Manx. 300 of Godreds men are said to have hid in the trees on Scacafell the night before the battle and have attacked the rear of the Manx formation. The battle may actually have happened about a mile away on the shores of 'Ramsey' which was then an island, and is now a seaside town, but Godreds men may well have hidden here.
