Leonard Maltin est un scénariste, producteur et acteur américain né le 18 décembre 1950 à New York, New York (États-Unis). Il est l'auteur d'une encyclopédie du cinéma, régulièrement mise à jour depuis 1969.

Il a reçu un diplôme en journalisme à l'Université de New York. Il a commencé à écrire à l'âge de quinze ans dans la revue Film Fan Monthly. Maltin est un animateur dans l'émission américaine Entertainment Tonight depuis les années 1980. Il est devenu le président de l'association des critiques du cinéma de Los Angeles au milieu des années 1990. Maltin enseigne actuellement le cours de cinéma-télévision à l'Université du sud de la Californie.
