Cowboys from Hell est le cinquième album de Pantera et le premier du label Atlantic Records. Cet album fut leur premier succès commercial. Cowboys from Hell est vu comme le début officiel de Pantera par de nombreux fans, car le groupe à définitivement quitté l'étiquette du glam metal.

Dans les charts Américain, Cowboys from Hell prend la #27.

IGN Entertainment à nommé Cowboys from Hell comme étant le 19e album d'heavy metal le plus influent de tout les temps. [1]
