Aldrich Ames, CIA spy : copy of the mailbox used to signal his Russian counterparts. "This (replacement) mailbox is identical to the one, and in the same location that convicted spy Aldrich Ames used to signal his Russian counterparts. Ames would place a horizontal chalk mark about 3" long above the USPS logo to let his Russian handlers know he needed a meeting. This (replacement) mailbox is located at 37th and R Sts. NW about 0.8 miles from the Russian Embassy. The original mailbox was taken as evidence and is now owned by a museum." — dbking |
